Re: ACS during ASCO-ANZSCO transformation
Finally ACS has come out with something.
Does this mean that if I hold an assessment which is dated before May 1 2010 (mine is March), can I not even go for an assessment review even if I am ready to pay the reassessment fee? Do I need to go for a fresh assessment all over again.. oh no :-(

The text of the announcement is below, but in summary, if you need a reassessment now they'll do it for free if your assessment was issued on or after 1 May 2010, and otherwise you'll need to pay for a reassessment as per their usual procedures. As far as I can see, there is no guidance for applicants as to which ANZSCO code they should be using. Also important to note that ACS is about to issue new Assessment Guidelines which will explain their approach to new applicants.
Dear clients,
The ACS wishes to advise you that, on 1 July 2010, immediately after the commencement of Migration Amendment Regulations 2010, the ACS will assess a visa applicant's nominated skilled occupation according to the ANZSCO standard.
Following arrangements will be made to facilitate the ACS Pre-application Skills Assessment (PASA) during ASCO-ANZSCO transformation.
Who are these arrangements for?
These arrangements are for applicants who:
• have been affected by the temporary suspension of certain General Skilled Migration (GSM) visa applications on 8 May 2010, and
• have the skills and qualifications assessed as SUITABLE under the ACS Pre-application Skills Assessment Guidelines in place at the time of skills assessment application, and
• received a result letter issued within the time frame: 1 May 2010 - 30 June 2010 inclusively, and
• are able to provide a verifiable independent evidence of possessing skills and qualifications closely related to an occupation listed on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) as at 1 July 2010 or the Employer Nomination Scheme Occupation List (ENSOL) as at 1 July 2010, and that occupation continues to be an acceptable occupation for skilled visa program purposes, and
• wish to be reassessed under ANZSCO standard, and their ASCO occupation information may not be considered under skilled visa program ASCO-ANZSCO transitional arrangements endorsed by DIAC.
*The PDF documents below show the full list of DIAC-endorsed correlations from ASCO occupations to ANZSCO occupations for each of the above lists.
See:
SOL DIAC-endorsed ASCO-ANZSCO correlations – 1 July 2010 (224KB PDF file)
ENSOL DIAC-endorsed ASCO-ANZSCO correlations – 1 July 2010 (104KB PDF file)
If you are such an applicant, please apply for the review of your original skills assessment using Application for Review of PASA available from the Migration Skills Assessment Section on the ACS website http://www.acs.org.au/index.cfm?acti...=downloadforms.
Your application will be assessed free of charge.
If you are not able to meet the conditions outlined above, you will need to lodge a PASA application under standard for the level of qualifications, training and work experience required for an IT Professional as at 1 July 2010 and pay the full application fee.
If you are uncertain whether your skills assessment is acceptable for a visa application, please contact DIAC to discuss your situation.
Cheers,
George Lombard

Re: ACS during ASCO-ANZSCO transformation
Hi George,
Thanks for sharing this news.
George I have got ASC skills assessment at January 5 and my ASCO Code is 2231-79(.NET Specialist).
I have seen a direct mapping of my ASCO Code with ANZSCO code in Schedule 4. Can you please advice me about my case. Will I need to do review or I can just use my existing assessment for 176 visa app?
Please advice.
Thanks.

Re: ACS during ASCO-ANZSCO transformation
Even I got ACS letter (2231-79-C# Specialist) before May and that was in March. So I don't fall in the category of getting any review for my assessment?
If so then can I proceed with my existing acs letter. And about the new sol code I searched the DIAC website and I found this:
Software and Applications Programmers Nec - 261399
Previously referred in ASCO as:
2231-79 Computing Professionals not elsewhere classified
So can I use the new code 261399 for my application?
Thanks a lot

You dont need a migration agent to answer this
You need to apply for a new ANZSCO code which will mean being reassessed if your ACS PASA letter has passed 60 days since it was issued to you. The following should be noted:
Can I be reassessed?
You will be able to undertake a reassessment if:
• You have been previously assessed as suitable under the old guidelines (e.g. PIM 2 Guidelines).
Please note that your assessment will be done based on our current guidelines, or
• You have previously been assessed as unsuitable, and feel you now meet the guidelines.
You need to lodge a new PASA application and pay a full applicable fee.
Applicants seeking recent work experience exemption: please note that once your qualification has expired, you can only be assessed in this category again if you have since completed a new qualification that meets the criteria.
Applicants that have previously applied for PASA do not need to provide all documents again.
To apply for a reassessment, you will need to provide:
• A new application form
• Appropriate payment
• Copy of previous assessment letter (or the reference number)
• Current identification if you have been issued a new passport
• Additional documentation
Please note that in spite of qualifications or experience previously being assessed as suitable, the ACS reserves the right to refute the previous decision or request further details relevant to these credentials.
Downside is that you need to pay again. On the plus, there is no need to send RPL reports again unless like me you want to add an additional an report to tick a few more boxes to do with either applications or programmes to match Nec - 261399
I hope this helps you and others in the same boat (Like me)
Best Wishes

Computing Professional nec with a MODL specialisation
Hi guyz,
Its July 1st today and DIAC has answered the question in their GSM-ANZSCO-FAQ
I obtained a skills assessment as a Computing Professional nec with a MODL specialisation and my occupation is not on the new SOL. What can I do?
To apply for GSM you must nominate an occupation on the SOL current at the time of your application. If your occupation is not on the SOL, you may be able to apply for other visas that allow you to work in Australia.
Does it mean that we can go ahead and nominate ourselves against one of the relevant occupation in SOL rather than going for review/re-apply? Experts please advice.

Re: ACS during ASCO-ANZSCO transformation
General comments on the new skills list and classifications:
a) There is no significant change for people who have already lodged permanent visa applications, people on existing 457 visas, people hoping to apply for employer sponsored permanent visas.
b) Equally, no significant changes for people who are state sponsored already, provided the visa application has been lodged. If not lodged, check that the sponsorship is still valid, and do so quickly.
c) IT people - ACS has advised that if your skills assessment was issued between 1 May and 30 June you can be reassessed under ANZSCO for free, but be careful that you have an occupation on the SOL ("Schedule 3) or State SOL ("Schedule 4") before you request that reassessment, and be prepared to justify the occupation you choose. Every existing ACS assessment needs to be reissued if it hasn't been linked to a visa application already, those issued before 1 May require an entirely new skills assessment application and fee. Also important for IT people to be aware that there are now a number of totally excluded IT occupations and at this stage the IT occupations being sponsored by states are unknown, so therefore only current SOL occupations are safe. This is going to be particularly hard on many specialists awarded MODL/CSL status under the previous SOL.
d) There is no "direct mapping" of ACS occupations from the old SOL to the new SOL or new State SOL.
Cheers,
George Lombard

Re: SAP functional applying for 261111 or 261112
Hi,
I'm in the same situation as yours. Received +ve response from ACS on 29/4 under 2231-79(SAP specialist) but it's no longer available in 175. Thinking to apply for 261112 since i have all the docs ready but worried it will get rejected later on.
I have another option which is to get employer sponsor but I will get bonded by the employer for another 3 years which I don't wish to happen.
Is it possible if i apply the application under visa 175 with the ANZSCO 261112 (System Analyst) and switch to "employer sponsor" if DIAC decided stick to the ASCO-ANZSCO correlation mapping(applicable for 176 ONLY - 261399)?
Options
1. Apply visa 175 using ACS test result ASCO 2231-79 & map to ANZSCO 261112 (due to there is one position stated in the ACS result letter as System Analyst)
2. re-assess from ACS
3. Get sponsor from employer straight away
