Anyone going to Leeds Expo?

Re: Anyone going to Leeds Expo?
That's exactly the right attitude to go with!
Which part of Warrington are you in?
We both grew up there and our parents are still there (I do the daily trek to Warrington to work too).

Right! Decision made... we'll be there too!
Best get my OH to update his cv for the aussie market!
Like the wise words have said - it's not too far (we live Oldham side of Manc) and it's a day out if nothing else... and I'm a sucker for free pens!!!
See you there!

Oh my god what a waste of money, we spent longer trying to find the pay machine at the car park on the way out than we did in the expo'

Really? Where there any DIAC staff there? What about employers? Is it not worth making the trip then?

It looked like the jobs on offer were mainly from recruiting agencies.
I would say there were less than 20 stands there.

Re: Anyone going to Leeds Expo?
We have been today, spent 10mins chatting with Woolworths who took CV and details, other than that got some new bank account forms from Aussie banks, and we couldnt get into the seminar when DIAC were speaking as it was full............best thing about it was the one armed digareedoo player in the reception (very good - the Jimi Hendrix of digeredoo players), I suppose it was good to confirm three things for us :
1) We wont be going to another Expo
2) We wished we had spent the £25 on a Tandoori Chicken Massala and alcohol tonight
3) Leeds City Centre is still a nightmare to drive around.
All in all we got to chat to some Australians who were all lovely people.

Supposed to be going today, but not sure whether to bother. What are other people with tickets for today going to do?

Re: Anyone going to Leeds Expo?
It was pretty basic and tbh there is more info and good advice posted on here or at least the relevant links to websites.
All we got in each seminar was basic info and told if you need to know any more look on the website!
Having said that the Victoria one was better than the DIAC one.
The DIAC guy was hidden away on the victoria stand if you want to speak to him!!
You can pick up a few glossies and some free pens and keyrings if you really want them, apart from that if anyone has done even the most basic digging you won't learn anything new at this expo.
There were very few employers, the few were mainly engineering and construction, there was one hospital and about 3 or 4 agencies.
The queue at the "working in" stand was enormous all the time we were there and god only knows why when all the info is on their website.
HAVING SAID ALL THAT I was fortunate enough to be asked back for an interview this week, but I guess that's just good fortune that I have specific experience that one company are interested in.
So you will have to be very lucky to get something from it.

We went yesterday and were not expecting much but thought nothing ventured...etc, anyway we got into the DIAC seminar and the Victoria Government one and I can honestly say didn't learn anything that we didn't already know.
