Default Aiming towards Oz citizenship~!

We are currently holding the 175 independant skill visa and living in Sydney. Our primary target is to eventually get our Australian citizenship. Most of our family our back in the country where we come from. As such we often like to visit them as much as we could. Could someone let me know the limitations we have in making such visits so that we do not harm our chances towards Oz citizenship. We prefer making visits every 6 months and we have been in Australia for just under 2 months.

Thanks

I don't know the specifics of your particular visa (if you need to work certain amount of time etc) but for citizenship status you need to have resided permanently for a total of 4 years so with each trip you make you need to add on the time out of the country.

If you go to immi.gov.au there is a calculator which will tell you when you're able to apply.

Good luck.

From Citizenship - how to apply website (the link to the calculator is on that page too, under Step 2)

If you became a permanent resident on or after 1 July 2007 you must:

•have been living in Australia on a valid Australian visa for four years immediately before applying, including one year as a permanent resident, and
•not have been absent from Australia for more than one year, including no more than 90 days in the year before applying.
