Hi

I think you need 6 on all separate bands to get 20 points. I suggest you buy some training material and practice before you sit another IELTS. The IELTS is very much about technique and since you are so close I think you will ace it next time

IELTS is pretty much about knowing how to handle the test. So before you do it next, get a book on the know how of taking the test. Read about what they expect of you. This really helps. I did it and was able to get an overall of 8. (9,8.5,8,8)
And for your second Q. there is no guarantee that the new legislation will come to effect on 1st July. It's just speculation. So study hard for the test and aim for a 20 point band!!
Good luck!!

Sush

p.s. where are you from? From your name you sound someone from Southa Asia?

Do not send your IELTS score with your application. Just send your application, then train for the IELTS and when you have 6 or better then you send in the score result.

Thush:

That's easy!! I figured that out because I'm from Sri Lanka as well!! I'm residing in Japan right now.

I recommend a self-study book called "STEP UP TO IELTS" by VANESSA JAKEMAN and CLARE McDOWELL, Published by Cambridge press.
It gives you pin-point advice on getting a good band on the test. It comes with a seperate CD.

Yep, as the Norwegian says I too think sending your new IELTS results after lodging the application is better than sending the old one. Many people do that. Just lodge with a copy of your exam reciept. I suggest booking a test date that gives time to take a month or so to study and then sitting the test as there is a big difference between getting a band of 5 and a 6

If you need more info. use the private mailing facility after registering on this site.

Good luck!

is another visa called SIR the total marks required for that is only
110, i thought if i add present IELTS results my total marks will be
115. then there is posibility of getting SIR? anyway as you say if i
include IELTS when lodging the application in future i won't be able
to chnaged that isn't it?

They will ask you to provide your IELTS score! If you send your current IELTS score with your application you will only get 15 marks. I do not know if it is possible to send a better score later, but i would not take the chance. You do not have send any proof that you will take the IELTS because DIMA requests that you submit your IELTS score. In your case it is mandatory. Same as medical and police check.

Lodge your application, study hard and retake the IELTS. Then when you get 6 in all bands you submit your score.
