Default Advice is Highly Needed

Hello everyone,

kindly i would like to ask you , as I went to the beautiful Sydney 2 weeks ago. and now i came back to EU for my work

My 1st question is , I only opened a back account in Aus. , i couldn't have enough time to open tax file and register in centerlink , etc. so, is that OK ??? especially that I'm planning to submit an application for my wife to get a spouse visa while we both will be outside Aus. ???? so , guys is this could effect her application ?? and is it doable ?

My 2nd question is, my visa is 175 skilled independent migrant , i know its a permanent residency with 5 years unlimited entries , the question is am I obligated to not stay outside Aus. for a certain time ? because now we are in June 2010 , and I'm planning to move with my wife next year November 2010.

so, stay outside Aus, for about 1.5 years one shot is it okay ?

Thanks , and looking forward your advice

Now you have validated your visa you can come and go as you please for five years until the right to enter Australia expires. Then you need to either have obtained citizenship or get a residents return visa. Nothing to worry about just yet though.

Why would you get a tax file number before you are resident in Australia? You don't need a tax file number until you are tax resident. And as for Centrelink well why would you register for that, new immigrants are not entitled to benefits anyway.

tax file number is useful if you decide to move your funds ahead of you - this way ( or so I believe) you avoid paying maximum tax on the earnings on your Australian savings account.

Not true. You simply advise the bank of your TFN once you receive it.

Yes, or like us have never bothered to advise the bank TFN, we just claim the over tax back on our tax return.

Isn't it necessary to register with Centrelink to claim Family tax benefit ?

OP is not living in the country, just came over on a trip. So they are not entitled to FTB.
