Only if it's within the group of IT occupations assessed by ACS.

Plus, if you apply for mainstream skill assessment you won't get
assessed for RPL or vice versa without re-applying and paying a new
fee.

Default ACS assessment for more than one occupation ?

Hi,

is there anything worong with requesting an ACS assessment for more than one occupation ?

I tried to be assessed as IT-Manager (ASCO 1224-11), but failed (the granted me 2231-79 / Researcher instead). Although I think I might be able to provide some more material to finally get it, it is quite useless at the moment as it disappeared from the MODL.

I would like to go for 2231-?? (Java/J2EE/Web-security IT-person).

Do I have to reqest a totally new assessment .. and pay another 350AU$ ?

Would it make sense still to continue to try to get the IT-Manager (ASCO 1224-11) ? .. just in case .. maybe it comes back on the MODL soon

thanks

Dear takeoff,

I think if you visit the ACS site and see the programs for unemployed IT
workers it's clear enough that IT manager is never coming back on the MODL
list, or at least not for a very long time.

As for asking them to assess you on an occupation on the MODL list, all you
need to do is make an appeal and send them A$300.

Cheers

Hi

Incase the nominated occupation as mentioned by the applicant is not found suitable by the ACS, do they automatically assess you against a more relevant one?

Cheers

As a technical IT manager who has grown into that role from being a hands-
on techie, I have to say this is incomprehensible. If anything what the
industry needs more than anything is good IT managers (and not the hacks
I've had to report to throughout my career). What the industry currently
does not need is yet more Java coders and "ecommerce experts" - those you
can pick up for a dime a dozen at the nearest post-dotcom auction or the
unemployment office.
I get their resumes on my desk at a rate that makes me worry about our
forests! What I don't see is people with actual managing skills - from
project management to interpersonal skills. How ironic, seeing how the ACS
demands these as a mandatory item - and then you look at the MODL and IT
managers get droppes but Java coders are still on it.
Just typical how such agencies are far too slow to recognize and react to
realities in the field.
