ACS
hi
I know Medicals and police clerance is valid for a year. But how long
is your ACS assement valid. for an example if my ACS was evaluated on
Nov 1, 2001 and if i applied in Dec 1, 2001. If my visa decision is
still pending after dec 1, 2001 will i have to ACS assement again?
Also when you get the visa do you get to land until one year your
medicals or police clearance expires or is it one year from your
application date
thanks

Normally.

One year. But it only needs to be valid at the date you apply.

1 year from date it was issued. However, once you have lodged your PR application to DIMIA, it won't "expire" while a decision is pending from DIMIA.

Generally no, you do not need to get a fresh skills assessment.

The earlier of the expiry date of either your police or medical checks.

Re: ACS - ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS
ANSWERS TO THE ABOVE QUERRIES:
IN ORDER TO QUALIFY ONE NEEDS THE FOLLOWING REQUIRMENTS FULFILLED:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS OF ACS: AQF CERTIFICATE - III
Equivalent of this qualification could be any of the one mentioned
below:
a) a regonised BCS degree from own country.
b) a recognised diploma in IT from own country (RPL required).
c) on-line certification eg MCSE, MCDBA, JCP, OCP. etc
EXPERIENCE: 6 YEARS FOR APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED AFTER 1ST OCTOBER 2002.
Note: Experience be after acquiring an IT related qualification - but
not necessarily the recognised one.
eg: BA 1992
Diploma (IT) 1996 - could be a non-recognised one.
MCSE 2001
The above case qualifies: has the required IT qualification (MCSE)
has the necessary experience - 6 years exp
after Diploma
ACS REPORT IS VALID FOR ONE YEAR - IF SUBMITTED TO DIMA WITHIN ONE
YEAR VALIDITY DOES NOT END.

No. Certificate III will get you nowhere with the ACS. Where on earth did you come up with this?

The degree has to be:
1) recognized by the ACS (solely having recognition by your own country isn't sufficient)
2) equivalent to an Australian bachelor's degree with a major in IT.
> b) a recognised diploma in IT from own country (RPL required).
The IT diploma has to be recognized by the ACS to be equivalent to an Ausrtlian diploma in IT. A bachelor's degree with a minor in IT will also be recognized by the ACS in this category. This is called Group B, which is different from RPL.
> c) on-line certification eg MCSE, MCDBA, JCP, OCP. etc
AFAIK, MCDBA, JCP and OCP are not recognized by the ACS to be at even Group B level.
> The above case qualifies: has the required IT qualification (MCSE)

The experience need not be post-qualification. This is clearly stated on the ACS' new FAQ for the new guidelines.
