Hi all, I am on a 457 visa, I have to have a inpatriate medical insurance as part of the visa. I know some will say cancel it now I have it but my employer also ensure I have it, and it has come in quite profitable to be fair.
Anyway, we have applied for PR (186 i think), I know once we get PR our medical insurance is void, but is this the same once applied for PR? I am asking as I know others who have been entitled to Medicare who weren't before as soon as they applied for PR from a 457? I was wondering if this is the same if anyone knows?

Why would your medical insurance be void just because you have applied for a different visa? I am sure it is not...

Medical insurance for those on 457's is invariable specialized and as a result a great deal more expensive. Most 457 insurance will assume they you're not eligible for any reciprocal agreement cover... even if you are.
