Default 457 temp visa

Hello folks.

I wonder if anyone could advise ref a temp sponsored visa.

Sons included as dependants are now 16 and 18 years old.

If I understand correctly they cannot work in Aus other than outside their normal education hours; so part-time.
But do they have to go into education ? ie no education or work ?

Secondly could they stay in UK and join us 1/2 years later ?
When they did join I suppose it would be the same no education = no work?

Thanks.

I think you should be getting some professional advice.

Dependents of a 457 visa holder have no work restrictions. It's not clear why you think there are - you may be confused with student visas.

However, once a dependent 457 holder starts working full time, he puts his status as a 457 holder at risk as he may no longer be considered 'dependent'.

It may be possible for them to switch from 457 visa to student visa, but British citizens normally need to apply for student visas offshore.

Yes, they can stay in the UK for a while.

It would be a lot easier of the whole family got PR as soon as possible - because even if the parents get PR later on, it's increasingly harder to sponsor children as dependents as the children get older.
