Default 457 to PR

Hi,

I am on 457 and have applied 175 Offshore visa on 3rd March 08. My 457 is valid till March 2009 (Hope my 175 would finalised before expiry !). If I change my job now, does the new employer should also sponsor me? Can't I stay on same 457 (even though I changed Employer) till it get expire as I have already lodged my Permanent residency application

Thanks in advance

- Sudha

Hi, i have been looking into 457 visa myself as am hoping to get a job offer, from what i have read if you change employer you will need your new employer to apply for for a new 457 as the visa works that your employer is responsible for your flights home within 28 days should your employment cease (among other responsibilities). So on that basis you would need another visa! Sorry if this is not what you wanted to hear, on the plus side the visa is only about $80 so your new employer shouldn't be put off by the cost!
