My son hates his unsocial chef job. He went to Aus on a WHV later got a 457. He likes Aus but does not have time to enjoy it properly in his current job. In fact he has been there nearly 2 years and has had very little time off.I am desperately looking at options,eg an ENS for him for permanant residency and so he is not chained to his unsocial job. A skills assessment would be difficult at present so with his two years there this seems the better option, even if he leaves his employer soon after visa grant.
His sister is settled there but it seems he still needs a skills assessment for family sponsor visa.
He will not have been on the 457 for two years but in his occupation for two years while in Aus and 12 mths with the same employer. Confusingly the Diac site states 457 for two years and on the application for ENS it says same occupation for two years.
Which is correct?? Anyone have other ideas to help my 22 yo son. Is in fact this path 457 to an ENS permanant visa possible considering he wants to change his career and employer soon after visa grant. Please help!, He's young, fed up and desperate!

where is he? If regional he could consider RSMS which doesn't need a skills assessment - assuming he meets the other criteria.

Hi Safin
Yes he can do the RSMS regional, but would'nt he then be restricted to 2 years with an employer and to a region??

Hi again and thanks a lot
Have looked again at the RSMS on DIAC and it looks interestings thanks Safin.
DO you not need a skill assessment with this then?? I am now wondering did we make a mistake by going on the 457 instead of the RSMS in the first place.

Yes there is a requirement to show a genuine effort to stay with that employer for 2 years. But rarely enforced appararently. If the employer lets him go - for instance redundant - he's fine and doesn't have to stay regional after that.
