Default 28 days after 1st year visa?

I am in a bit of a tricky situation with money and my first year visa is up in a couple of weeks but it may take more than that for me to get enough money/help to fly back home. Do i get 28 days after my visa ends to get things in order or do i have to apply for a different visa e.g. 3 month holiday visa for this to apply?

Thanks for the help

What do you mean by your "first year visa"? Do you mean you're on a WHV and reaching the end of the year? If so, no you don't get 28 days, when your visa expires that's it, end of visa.
You can't get a 3 month evisitor onshore, though you could try for a 676, which is a full tourist visa

I would suggest though you get someone at home to lend you the price of a flight. If you can't afford to fly home on a WHV you run the risk of DIAC refusing you a tourist visa for that reason.
