2 weeks to go and broken arm!!!!
Hello there
I leave for sydney a week on friday and have fallen down the stairs and broken my bloody arm in 2 places. Hospital will decide on Thursday if I need an operation to put a plate in which i can get done on Sunday.
Anybody know if i need to tell anybody or do I just transfer to an ozzy hospital, is it gonna cost a fortune. As I was just gonna get direct line online insurance a few days before I go ##i'm not gonna be covered anywhere insurance wise if i cancelled flights so don't really want to do that - airline don't seem to be able to tell me much other than ok to fly with broken arm - nobody sure if ok 5 days after general anaesthetic.
Took me about a week to type this so maybe it's healed now!
Cheers

Re: Bummer
Yep bummer!
Whatever you do .... tell the hospital that your flying long distance ....
flight swells limbs .... hence loose clothing and shoes is always
recommended. A plaster / fibreglass cast should be loose enough to allow for
a swollen limb to swell some more .... it will probably need changing once
out there

Bad luck :-)
Check with your doctor and the airline.
Some carriers won't take you as the arm may swell during flight, which would
cause worse problems if it's encased in plaster.
If this happened worst case scenario is that the swelling is such that it
could severely restrict blood supply to the limb, which could result in
blood clots forming.
A feiend of ours broke her arm and was barred from flying for 10 days from
the date the arm was set.
Take care - the cost of missing your flight is nothing compared to your
health.
