Default 139 Fees

Hi,

I am trying out what the income level my Assurance of Support sponsor
needs to have. She is a nurse so I presume that she should be ok., do
I take her partners income into consideration as well?

One other question the bond I need to submit, I think its $3,500 does
that cover both my wife and my 9 month year old son.

Thanks!

Also search at http://www.centrelink.gov.au and you will find what you need.

It's important to be aware that the income rules for a mandatory Assurance of Support are completely inflexible and lots of people find their applications delayed when they discover at a late stage that their assurer is ineligible (or unwilling) to complete the process. Those who cannot find another assurer face refusal.

Seek professional assistance if still confused.

Hi Venice,

Yes, if she's a nurse her income should be over the threshhold if she's working full-time, and her partner can participate in a joint AoS if necessary. Your bond should be A$5000.

The only way to confirm this in any particular case is to contact Centrelink direct, as this recent thread indicates: http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=343041 (although that situation was obviously more complex than yours!).

See also http://www.facs.gov.au/guide/ssguide/94370.htm .

cheers,

Venice

I rang centrelink and asked them what the amount should be for our particular assurers. Centrelink asked me quite a few questions about our particular assurers (we are using two) I had to say if they had dependants etc and they worked it out for me. I then gave this figure to my assurers and they double checked it with centrelink direct if was needed.
