Default Work Visa

We moved to New Zealand almost 3 years ago and obtained our PR before we came out.
Around 18 months ago our 28 year old daughter, husband and now 2 year old grandson came over, while here he managed to get work and a work permit, she then applied and received her work permit and has been employed ever since. About 4 months ago they seperated and he went back to the UK alone.
What is the situation now with her work permit, is it invalid and as they don't want to go back what would be the best route to try to keep them here?

Can she not apply to get Permanent residency in her own right? While she is waiting to get her residency approved, she might have to apply for a workpermit in her own right.

i think as far as work permits go a partner's work permit is linked to the main applicant's work permit.

You might be able to sponsor her as an adult child for residency if you meet the balance of family test, ie no more children of yours living outside of NZ than in NZ.
