What's with this work experience??

What's with this work experience??
11th April, the fornightly selection the criteria was thus;
Selection criteria No. of EOIs
All EOIs above 140 points. 378
All EOIs with a job or a job offer claiming points between 100 and 135 points. 120
All EOIs with 15 points for work experience in an area of absolute skill shortage and with a points total between 100 and 135 points 137
All EOIs claiming 10 points for work experience in an area of absolute skill shortage and with a points total between 120 and 135 points 54
TOTAL SELECTION 689
I initially got selected back in november having claimed points for work experience in an area of absolute skills shortage, but have been dumped back into the pool as they don't recognise the experience because i don't have a degree to go with it! What's that all about then? Isn't work experience, work experience, why do you need the degree to go with it?
