reasonable amount of money for the first 24 months??
Hi everyone
I have read than the main applicant in a skilled migrant visa has to prove that one has money enough to support him/herself and the dependants on the ITA to go to New Zealand, I am just wondering; how much is reasonable funding for 24 months for a family of two children and two grown ups? what is the smallest amount of money they can accept as funding?
I am thinking something like 50.000 UK Pounds, but is this way off?
I will be very happy for an answer, since we need how much money to save up
Thanks

Hi Astrid,
for PR, in the application the only thing they ask about your money is how you intend to support yourself (your cash & assets/job offer/support from family members) during the first 24 months of your residency when you're not yet entitled to benefits. See page 23 of the application form: http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/rd...170/0/1000.pdf
We originally applied with no job offer, and have not yet been asked anything about how much savings etc. we have.
£50 000 should be more than enough -the average income in NZ is less than £25,000 per year.
edit: the sum should be fine for immigration purposes, but for a comfortable lifestyle you might need more than the average wage per year, of course depending on what you're used to.

Thank you very much Mgee. I thought, that with money for rent, food, schooluniforms, doctors, car etc, it would easily be 50.000 pounds, but at the same time I thought it was a bit strange, since then it would only be quiet well off people going to new zealand....
Cheers, now we won't have to save up for as many years, as we initially thought
