Quickest Way to Get PR in Nz
Hi All,
I have had a chat with an Nz employer they have suggested that once I have submitted all the paper work I can enter under work to residency before a job offer then once I a sutiable vacancy is found and I am in employment - they suggested after three months in the position I can be upgraded to PR- is this possible? and which visa is it.
So do I apply for WTR or under Skilled migration even though my occupation is not on the skills shortage list or the Long Term Skill Shortage list.
Thanks for your time. Look forward to your response

What occupation please?

Actually I'm a bit confused. Can anyone else help here?
Do you mean that you want to apply for PR under the skilled migrant category. To do that, you must have at least 100 points. A job offer alongside the application will help it. No doubt about that in these times of recession.
Do you mean how to come live and work in New Zealand and THEN apply for PR?
The only way to do that is through a temporary work visa as far as I can see. That means the job offer first and then you apply for the work visa. The employer would need to fill out the employers supplementary form and undergo checks.
I think NZIS explain the various WTR visas very well & I can't see which one would apply to you per your post. Can you ?
As your occupation is not on the shortages lists, any employer offering you a job must prove to NZIS that there is no suitable NZ resident or citizen that could fill that position.
The exception possibly being if that NZIS employer were accredited with NZIS and the job offer met certain criteria, which is why I asked about this.
Of course, once you were living and working in NZ then there is nothing to stop you trying for PR under the SMC if you wished.
Perhaps have a chat with NZIS about your options.
