I know exchange rate is c**p at moment and who knows when it will get any better, thats the one thing that makes me question our (mine & OH) sanity ..... for the first time in our lives we financially ok, not rich but ok.......when I express my worry to OH he reassures me by saying 'then its the right time to give it a go' .......so off we go then wohoooooo!! lol

I agree with you. Forewarned is forearmed.
Try not to worry. If you have done your sums you will be OK. That thread may be about being financially worse off, but none of us are saying we want to up sticks and leave NZ , so it must have something.

Cheers Bev, guess its so easy to get carried away with the "how wonderful its going to be" the reality bump hits hard. Leaving older children here so panic we will not be able to afford to come back very often.

Feels tough as house prices dropped so much here, exchange rate rubbish and interest rates at all time low

Guess just need to keep looking at the pro's & con's list, as you say no one has said they are coming back

Hi All

congrats to those of you going soon, hopefully it won't be long for me.

Mostly i would like to see a big sigh of relief thank-you to all of you on here!! i thought I was cracking up, losing plot and chickening out all in one go - and angry at myself coz i had worked so hard to get to this point!! Now I know I am normal (well almost) and what i am feeling is too be expected. Ahso shall go and look at blue stickers again and know all is back being right in the world

Like you, I have times when I think I/we have lost the plot...it doesn't help when my aunt (only surviving blood relative) refuses to talk about anything to do with NZ let alone what we are planning ........hence, (I reckon ) I am addicted to BE NZ ..... I can get my questions answered, I can get to know like minded peeps and I can rant & rave all I like without offending (hopefully!!lol) plus I can offer words of support & encoragement to those peeps who might be having a 'blip' or a 'wobble' lol

Thank-you one of my best friends not too good about me going either - the guilt's difficult, esp when her 6 yr old sat on my lap the other day and innocently told me mommy has been crying about me going to NZ - out of the mouth of babes Hope Aunt comes around to some degree, even a glimmer,, before you go

I too have read the thread re people's financial situation - and well "oh c**p". Leap of faith, leap of faith I keep reminding myself, have started again before and can and will do it again; and as others have said they all still there so it can't be all bad. Maybe for me the moral of the story is life isn't just about money, though i agree it surely helps.. Soz am rambling - toooo much g&t and pmt..n fed up with livin with ex n waiting, waiting... rant ova sorry guys

So excited!!! ...again!!!
Had letter confirming Approved in Principle today wohooooo!!!

Just got to wait for new passport to come back before sending it off to get those blue stickers!!!!

NZIS have been amazingly quick!!! Feel like phoning C/O to congratulate & thank him (would certainly be getting a big hug & a few drinks if I had the opportunity)....... will just have to pop into the bar later and toast NZIS anyway

Thats fantastic news congratulations I'm sat here with a G & T so will have a drink for you until you get to the bar My husband had his blood test repeated yesterday and was told today no action needed but they wouldn't give him the results over the phoneso he needs to see his GP next week and then we can send a copy of them to our C/O thats all that is needed so we too can get our blue stickers Best Wishes for your future x

hey there! sounds as though blood test results ok then so seeing GP just a formality?! you'll soon be celebrating too!! keep us posted!

.....got a glass of nice pinot grigio, bottles nearly empty tho so off to the bar in a min!!
