cannabis convictions police check
hi everybody
im currently in christchurch on a whv and im applying for a two year work permit then hopefully getting residency, i have just recieved my uk police certificate and it says in 2003 i recieved reprimand for a class b drug (cannabis) and in 2004possesion of a class c drug fined 55 quid and recieved an absolute dishcharge. Now this happened 8-9 years ago does anybody know if this will deny my visa for new zealand? please help as im pulling my hair out with this issue

looks like you will probably be ok or at the most have to do a character waiver.
"How will a character waiver be considered?
Immigration officers may take into account the surrounding circumstances of the application to decide whether a character waiver should be granted or not. The circumstances would include but not be limited to:
the seriousness of the offence, and
whether there is more than one offence from one or more events, and
how long ago the relevant event occurred"

You will probably need a character waiver, as previously posted. Normally if you have kept yourself out of trouble for many years, they will look at it favourably, its normally only if the conviction is recent that you may have a problem. Good luck.
