Application has started
Hi,
This is my first post so please bear with me.
Our situation is as follows. I am married to a a kiwi (lady not the bird), we are planning to move out in October 2016. I have completed my application for a visa under the 'partner support'. I am a prison officer (24 years) and ex serviceman (army) both with exemplary records. How long should the application take?

Thanks. The application is ready to go, we go on holiday in a few weeks, I am a little bit concerned that they could potentially hold my passport for a long time.

If you need your passport then send in a certified copy with your application. You will need to send it in at the end for the visas to be stuck in obviously

Thanks for this, hopefully this should be a quick process as my wife is from new Zealand, I am in good health and no criminal record (Prison Service for 24yrs).

I've just been through this process, it took a few days short of three months. We had a very straight forward application, no issues.

Thanks, we want to have all documentation ready to go by the 24th September and have it sent off to New Zealand House.
In reference to the fee for a partner application, I have been told it is £140, when a colleague told me he was applying he said he paid £125 - I am very confused.

fees at the London office are here:http://www.immigration.govt.nz/templ...ACHEHINT=Guest
I get 185pounds from UK office for a work visa of a partner of a NZ Citizen, but not covinced.

You should be fine in sending a certified copy of your passport off with the immigration forms. I did this when applying for my residency visa (from inside NZ). The only time I had to physically send my passport away was when I needed to get the sticker put in it (which is right at the end of the process and once everything has been approved) and that took only a few days.

Re: Application has started
Thanks for all your help on this, the application officially started on Monday 31st August and was completed today. All I have to do is just sit back and wait.
