Written authorization - to experts or people who got it in Buffalo

Written authorization - to experts or people who got it in Buffalo
I will be off to Buffalo next week to pick up my visa and my fiance's. As I will be needing a written authorization to get her passport stamped, I need to know how it should look like. Is it enough with something like:
"I, Jane Doe, passport number XXXXX authorize my common-law partner, John Doe, passport number YYYY, to pick-up my Canadian Permanent Residence Visa from Canadian Consulate General in Buffalo, NY.
Name
signature"
Should we go to the Commissioner of Oaths with that? My biggest nightmare is that I will fly all the way to Buffalo and they won't give me the papers.
Please help me out with this,
