I am currently in Canada without a visa, or rather with a temp resident visa/tourist visa for 6 months.
My boyfriend is a PR and we were planning to look at options for me to find an LMO job when I got here but I see its going to be harder than we thought.
I am over 35 and am not on the skilled list. I clearly cant work without a work permit.
BUT can I do remote work for a UK based company if I am paid in the UK? I am a PA so was thinking of doing virtual PA work. But am not sure on the rules for this.

As long as you are working for a UK company and being paid by them then YES you can do online work while in Canada. Taken from the Foreign Workers Manual
long distance (by telephone or internet) work done by a temporary resident whose employer is outside Canada and who is remunerated from outside Canada;
