Can someone just advise the twp arrived today , and having read it where it states that 'your work permit will be issued for a specific period only (which i knew)the fact that you may wish to remain as a visitor for a further period should be brought to the attention of the officer at the canadian port of entry', if he starts asking us are we going to go back to the uk when the permit expires when we are infact going to apply for pr when OH passes his redseal and his employer sponsers him, what do we say? do we say we are going to try and apply to be pr's or just go along and say yes we will leave?? i dont want to say the wrong thing im quiet scared

Hi,

We had PR status so didn't face this. If we had faced it, we would have answered honestly and much as you have written. We're here on a TWP now. Hope to apply for PR in due course. If that does not succeed, we will return to the UK.

We are in the same boat and the same question crossed my mind too. Do we lie and say " oh yes we are going home in 3 yrs" or do we say " well we are on a twp for now but if everything goes well and we settle etc we will be applying for PNP through work" - and hope to God he doesnt say ok out you go lol

We were never asked. You should probably say you're going to go home afterwards as they're on the lookout for people who are trying to sneak in and stay on regardless. Of course, you're perfectly entitled to change your mind once you're in.

You'll probably not be asked, are you going back to UK when your TWP expires... it's more expected. So you'll not have to talk about your intention to apply for PR. Plus, let's say, the officer does ask, and you say "we are going to apply for PR whilst here on our TWP, however, if we are not successful in getting PR during that time then we will leave when our TWP expires" then that's absolutely fine.

Also, just a note from my own experience, let's say you are waiting for a decision on PR and your TWP is 6 months to expiring. Contact CIC in Canada and ask about getting an extension until the CHC in London have made a decision on PR. I was granted an extension to my TWP whilst waiting for PR. I'm not sure if that would apply in all cases, I'm running a small Canadian company, however, it is worth asking. You should find that the majority of people at CIC in Canada are very helpful. Don't remember them asking us we just showed them the letter and they sent us to secondary immigration where the TWP was issued for 3 years.

We were asked and told the truth - that we were here temporarily, MrMMC was to sit his Red Seal and if he passed then we were going to apply for PR via PNP.

They just continued looking through our documents and didn't flinch!

Luckily we got our TWP's (!) and have recently submitted the PNP app.

we actually had put in our application for PR by the time we came over on our TWP's. so just answered that application for PR was in London - they were fine with that.
