When PGWP expires... what next?
Hi all,
I have a question regarding PGWP and PR.
My PGWP expires in 2022. I have BC PNP and applied online for the PNP EE stream in April 2021. Obviously there are massive backlogs right now and I am starting to get a little bit concerned about what happens next.
I know I can't extend my PGWP, but can I get a other work permit?
Should I be applying for PR under another stream, or hang tight for the PNP?
I'm getting frustrated and nervous.
Thank you

Sorry, I am not sure what you mean. I hope this is right.
I was invited to apply for PR under the PNP program with my nomination from BC.

So for BC PNP I was invited under Skills Immigration (Express Entry BC – International Graduate). All of my documents are being submitted online (not paper based).
I have a valid job offer, which I have been working in for almost 2 years, which is NOC B. Early Childhood Educator.
Thank you

Bridging open work permit for permanent residence applicants
A bridging open work permit (BOWP) lets you keep working while you wait for the results of your permanent residence applicationTo be eligible for a BOWP, you must:
- live in Canada (Quebec not included)
- either
- have a valid work permit
- have an expired work permit but maintained your status as a worker
- be eligible to restore your status and get a work permit
- be the principal applicant on your permanent residence application
- have no employment restrictions as a condition of your nomination
- have submitted a complete application for permanent residence and passed the completeness check
- have your acknowledgement of receipt letter
- we send this letter to your account after we get your application

Yes, it looks like the BOWP applies. I'd like to think I would have heard about PR before the permit runs out, but things seem so uncertain right now.
Are there any accurate timelines for PR applications?

The BOWP option will also depend on your stream/conditions - you aren’t eligible for a BOWP if you have employment restrictions on your nomination.

Sorry, I missed your response. Yes, I am going through the International Graduate stream.
The only conditions on my permit are that I am not allowed to study, and not valid in the sex trade.

You can apply for either a bridging open work Permit or a closed WP as a Provincial Nominee with a WP support letter from BCPNP and if your Employer pays the Employer Compliance Fee. There are no Employer restrictions on BCPNP nomination certificates so a BOWP is possible.
Having said that, you need to have a supporting employer you're working for all through the PR process.
