What to do - Self Employed, Intra Company transfer or Work Permit?
Any help will be much appreciated.
I have a job offer in Canada.
I had another job offer in Canada in May 2008 and after several interviews with the company, the offered me a position and were willing to sponser me. Unfortunatly, the LMO was refused, on the basis that not enough effort had been made to hire Canadian. That particular company, are still willing to take me on -but I need to make my own way to Canada.
In the meantime, I have been headhunted by another Canadian company. This particular company has offices in the UK (where I'm from) and also several in Europe.
I'm pretty sure that the LMO will be negative again and would like to find out what my other options were.
1. Be hired in UK/Europe and work in the Toronto office (or from home)
2. Work as a freelancer.... from what I have read, as long as I am paid outside of Canada- its not a problem.
My plan is to immigrate to Canada permanantly. Will either of the above options affect this? Are there any other options?
Thanks in advance.

Hi
I can only comment on Intra Company Transfer as this is how my husband made it to Canada.
The first thing is that you will have to work for the British company for at least a year here before you can be transferred. The Wiki above explains all that you need for it.

That's right. I was going to go the intra-company route, but I've ended up going FSW as I didn't like the conditions that my employer put on where I had to be located and what kind of work I had to do in Canada. You do have to be employed in the UK for at least 12 months by the company before you can get to Canada through the intra-company route.

Thanks for the info guys.
Yes - You do have to be working for a that company for a minimum of 1 year enter via the ICT route - but, in the meantime you can go there on business visa's - if I'm not mistaken.
Any other viable options?
Is the self employed route an easy process? Will I be able to change to a different visa later on?

Hi
Are you a farmer? a well know sports star? an internationally noted artist? if so then self employed is for you. Otherwise,
Self-employed persons
The Self-Employed Persons Program seeks to attract applicants who have the intention and ability to become self-employed in Canada. Self-employed persons are required to have either:
* relevant experience that will make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada or
* experience in farm management and the intention and ability to purchase and manage a farm in Canada.
