Default Visa stamping at Buffalo

Hello everyone,

I just recvd a letter from Buffalo asking me to send my passport for
visa stamping. Has anyone had any experience getting the visa stamped
by going to Buffalo consulate? Or is it even possible? Read from
earlier posts that sending it by mail seems to take 3-5 weeks. It
might be a problem for me because I dont have that much time left on
my current visa in US and definitely dont want to overstay my visit.

FYI, timeline:
App sent : Jun 2001
AOR rcvd : Sep 2001
NOA rcvd : Feb 2002
Medicals done: Apr 2002
Addnl docs req: May 2002
Addln FBI fingerprint as the earlier one expired: Aug 2002
Request for passport: Sep 2002

TIA
sajid.

If I applied to Buffalo Office, do I HAVE TO send my passport to
Buffalo? Or can I send my passport any Canadian Visa office that
handles immigration files?

Thanks,

if you want the visa you have to send it to the office your file is in... unless the file was transferred to another office for an interview or other reason...

Why does the Canadian Immigration system have to make it so difficult at every stage of the process for the applicants?
I have been thinking hard for reasons to some of their "You HAVE TO do this / You HAVE TO do that" and "You CANNOT do this / You CANNOT do that" and fail to arrive at any rationale or logic behind their needing to do this.

Instance # 1
In case of additional medicals, they require you to go to the same DMP you did your initial tests with. Why can't you do the additional medicals with another DMP if your circumstances make it very difficult or in some cases impossible to do them with the same DMP? A DMP is after all a DMP and has been designated as such by the CIC. Or is it that the medical reports of the same individual will vary with 2 different DMPs. WIERD???

Instance # 2
You HAVE TO send your passports for stamping to the same visa post where you filed your application. You cannot send the same to another visa processing office. WHY??? It seems to defy all logic. I mean, why can't an applicant send his passport along with the letter requesting the same from say, the Buffalo office to the New Delhi office for stamping?

So, where does that leave us? We cannot take the passport personally to Buffalo for stamping. We cannot send the passport to another visa post for stamping. We cannot send the passport across international borders from some countries because its not lawfully permitted. And they would not FEDEX the passports stamped with the visa even if the applicant pays the Fedex charges. They would always send them the normal way. And in case the mail gets lost in transit - well again its not the CIC's fault. Gosh! Simply RIDICULOUS!

The whole Canadian immigration system is lacking in so many ways and needs to be improved so much. And the worst part is there is no silver-lining visible. There was so much brouhaha about that stupid e-client service of theirs. A total flop that is till today. And to think of that they had it formally and officially launched. Why put something into implementation when its not even half-cooked? They managed to make a self-mockery of their "service".

Staunch advocates of the system on this forum would still find counterarguments to all I just said here but the fact would still remain - Canadian Immigration needs to improve REAL BAD! It SUCKS right now.

PS: Considering all the mental, financial, emotional hardships and stress that the Canadian Immigration System subjects all applicants, it should be the one which should be compensating the latter instead of charging them all the fees that it does. There has been a lot of discussion here before, on the kind of money that they make by way of all the application fees (not to consider the ROLF) and still they do nothing to increase the manpower shortage and streamline the process. Agreed - they only have that many number of immigrants that they can take every year irrespective of the number of applicants but then they also get richer by way of all the application fees from applicants that would be potentially rejected.

That said, I am sure the above is not going to happen in the next million years. Sigh!

PS : typo --- It should be "decrease the manpower-shortage"
