Default Travel Insurance for IEC

Hi we are in the process of choosing travel insurance for the IEC WHV Does anyone know if you have to opt for the full 2yrs or is 1 year acceptable?

Also what policy did you all chose and did you find any comparison websites/things to look out for etc????? Many thanks!

Insurance has to cover repatriation which a lot of companies don't offer as part of normal coverage

What type of insurance must I get before leaving for Canada?

You must have health insurance for the entire time you are in Canada. The health insurance must cover:

medical care,
hospitalization, and
repatriation.
We recommend you buy this insurance only after you receive your Letter of Introduction.

You may be refused entry if you do not have insurance. If your insurance policy is valid for less time than your expected stay in Canada, you may be issued a work permit that expires at the same time as your insurance.

If you want a 2 year work permit then you must have 2 yrs coverage at time of entry.

Thank you - I just found this rather useful guide...
Choosing working holiday travel insurance | Off Track Travel
Seems its worth asking specific questions - like returning back to the UK/does the policy cover working/winter sports for the season rather than 2 weeks...
etc.

There is loads of info (including suggested companies) in the current IEC thread, and last year's too - I'd suggest you search both of those to see who others have used.

Thank you - there's a lot to wade through and it also might be useful just to have a thread specifically on this topic?

Not really, as most people just use the IEC thread for any info and so we try to keep anything to do with the IEC there so it's in one place and easy to find. You don't have to wade through the whole thread, a quick search for the word 'insurance' will bring up lots of relevant posts.
