In the form "IMM5669E - Schedule A background - declaration", for question 6 part k, asking if you have "had any serious disease, physical or mental disorder".
I am type 1 diabetic, should I answer yes and provide these details, or does this not count?
Thanks.

However if you put yes, and say you have diabetes, they will recognise that you aren't going to be a danger to Canada so either way it works.

Awesome- can start on booking everything now for a move in Nov. Just been an awesome day ... first got my daughters certificate of citizenship (which we weren't expecting until early next year) and then this stuff. Just a truly fantastic day

Approval of the sponsor is considered approval in principle? I'm confused... (But it's late and I haven't slept in a week so my brain might be playing tricks on me)

Hello
Finally..........after a long wait I receive my COPR letter today. I cannot express my feelings(although I was in tears when I saw the letter).
I want to check few queries:
Attached letter says, "You have now been issued your COPR form (IMM 5299 or IMM5688). If required, a counterfoil has also been affixed in your passport.
Please not that citizen of visa exempt countries will not have counterfoil affixed to their passport.
Now I am not sure, if I am citizen of visa exempt??? I am British Citizen holding a british passport.
Another question they have issued COPR version IMM5688 (04-2012)E.
While I am going through attached letter, it say, If you received COPR version IMM5688, there are two copy for each person(which I have received). Each person must carry the two copy of the IMM5688 when travelling to Canada along with his/her passport counterfoil(unless you are a visa-exempt citizen) as the COPR is not a valid document for travel(as indicated on the form itself).
So I am bit confuse, Do I need to send my passport for the counterfoil as it says the COPR is not valid document for travel.

As a British passport holder (citizen) you do not need to send your passport or have a counterfoil placed in it. You are classed as visa exempt.
All you need to do is to arrive in Canada before the expiry date on your COPR (if you are not already here) together with your passport and the two copies of the COPR. When you arrive to 'land' you will be granted PR. PR is not valid until you actually 'land' in Canada, either at the border (if flying/driving in) or at a local CIC office if you are already in Canada.

I can't believe it. I finally sent off my application for PR today. I know Mississauga probably won't receive it until Monday but it's such a relief to get it sent off.
Now to play the waiting game and hoping it'll be approved and finalised before my current IEC runs out (doubt it though).

First of all, brilliant thread I have found this information really useful!
I do have a couple of questions that have really been worrying me and I would be grateful of any help with these.
1. My IEC runs out on 27th October 2013. Is there anything I can do to allow me to stay in Canada for a little longer as a visitor. I do have a job as an IT Helpdesk Technician so could I apply for a work permit? Is this a quick process?
2. I've been living with my common law partner for 1 year but we've been living with his parents so we don't have proof of rental leases or household bills ect. will this cause problems when we send off for PR Common Law sponsorship? We do have some joint costs such as mobile phone, car lease, insurance, work benefits and we also have a joint back account.
3. I'm worried about what/how much evidence we should supply in our application. I don't want to send too much and bombard them but then I also worry I won't send enough.
I'm really panicking that our application will be declined (I'm a born worrier) so I want to make sure we get it all right. If anyone who has been successful with a common law sponsorship application could provide any information on this matter you may help a worried young lady sleep at night... this is a very daunting feeling knowing my future in Canada is in someone else's hands.

Hi all...when they ask for your passport do they actually need the passport or do they just need a photocopy of the passport!! We need to send the actual passport away that's all and won't have access for a while to it ....

Hi
1. It depends, if you are visitor visa exempt for Canada, then you just submit a photocopy of your passport. If you are not VV exempt, then you have to submit the passport.

2. I'm in a similar situation but don't see it as an issue. Joint bank account, joint phone bills etc should be enough. I just added some additional info explaining why we don't have joint rental leases.
3. I would go on the basis of the more the better. Don't worry about inundating them with proof of your relationship.
I just started my application a few weeks ago and was worried at first but I'm calm now.

Thanks for such a useful forum, it really supports the process!
Just about to submit the forms for Spousal Sponsorship (wife is sponsoring me) but have a couple of questions I would appreciate advice

Just about to submit the forms for Spousal Sponsorship (wife is sponsoring me) but have a couple of questions I would appreciate advice
1) Form IMM5490 Sponsored Spouse Questionnaire - Q#28:
If I answer that I’m not living with my sponsor (as I have to return to England financially), it asks when my sponsor returned to Canada but she has always lived in Canada and we were married recently in Canada. Should we add a note explaining this.
Should I also explain my sponsor will be travelling to England at end of Oct for a couple of months so we can stay together before we return to being apart again and travelling back and forth between Canada and England as much as possible in New Year).
2) Form IMM0008 Generic Application and form IMM1283 Financial Evaluation Should I also explain my sponsor will be travelling to England at end of Oct for a couple of months so we can stay together before we return to being apart again and travelling back and forth between Canada and England as much as possible in New Year).
Would my job title of Freelance Academic working on Financial Services Innovations Model but simultaneously claiming Unemployed Benefit be acceptable or should I use one or other and how should I account for these overlapping periods
I'm concerned that these answers might lead to the application being rejected.
