Default temp work permit?

Hi,
Has anyone been to Canada on a temp work permit with out having a job before hand? If so did you use a company to help you with securing a job . I have been to the embassy in London and they stated that I need to have a job offer first so trying to find a different route. I'm a plasterer by trade and have been qualified for over 10 years.

Any help or information would be appreciated

Thanks

Unfortunately plasterers are not on the Federal Skilled Trades list as per this CIC link
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigra...plications.asp

Unless you can find an employer willing to apply for a Labour Market Opinion then you will have difficulty in securing a work permit unless you find a Province willing to sponsor you that doesn't require a job.

It's not possible to get a TWP without having a job offer. You need both a job offer and LMO first, before you can get a TWP.

More info on the visa process is in the Wiki.

HTH, good luck.

They don't really have plasterers over here, it's mainly all dry wall! Look for mud and taping company's and see if they have any LMOs and are willing to employ a foreign worker.
