study permit
after posting 'feeling discouraged' on this forum and having a think about things. would this be a feasable thing to do.
If I were to apply to go to college in canada to get qualified and get a study permit....could i in effect go to canada with my wife and daughter. If i have enough money to support myself and family whilst studying.
would this work.
i know its not the complete answer but could it work

Re: study permit
Like I wrote in my earlier post, you can certainly obtain education at your
own cost in Canada. But you can apply only after your get your degree in
Canada. Your wife and your kid can stay with you while you study here as
your dependent.
Please think carefully over and consult with immigration or school
administrator first.
Good luck.

Re: study permit
if i were able to implement this idea, would i (1) be allowed to buy a property whilst i was in canada studying with my own funds(2) be allowed to drive in canada (3) could i apply for pemanent residency in canada after i have gained my qualification whilst in canada or come back to the UK.
this seems like it may be the foot in the door i was looking for......maybe
its not something i will do on a whim but if its possible then i have a goal to work towards

Re: study permit
Your age is not a problem. If you get admission to school you can apply for
Study Permit and include your wife and daughter as your dependants. Once in
Canada your wife may be able to apply for open work permit. There are always
ways to achieve your goals, as long as you are prepared to go through few
hoops and loops and work hard on getting there, instead of looking for
"instant" PR status like many not too patient young people nowadays.

Re: study permit
Regarding driving here (Ontario), you HAVE to apply for an international
drivers license while in the UK before moving here, then you can drive here
no problem. Otherwise, after 3 months you will need an Ontario drivers
license, which to get your level G2 isn't too difficult. My husband just
went through all this and talked to many people.

Re: study permit
thanx for all your info, i would love to do my studies in canada but to do this it would mean stopping my life in the UK and selling everything i own to get everything i need for us all to be in canada. what i mean by this is selling my property, moving my family and my 2 dogs and 3 cats. my concern would be that i couldnt apply for pemanent residency till i have gotten my qualification from studying, what would i have to do, come back to the UK while i wait, i would have to uproot everything again. it wouldnt be as bad if pets werent involved but not taking them is not an option. would i have enough time after i finnsh my study to get an application processed....probably not
