hi, I have recently received my PR and now my girlfriend and I are
getting married.
Unfortunately i'm outside canada right now but I applied for graduate
studies at a university and canada and we are planning to move there
soon. I would like to sponsor my future wife before we go to canada
(because she wants to apply to a university too and it's easier to get
admitted if you're a PR), is it possible?
What proof will I have to present (about the marriage, etc..)? how
long does it usually take?

As a PR of Canada you have to be residing in Canada to sponsor your wife.,
you simply cannot do it while you are not here.

Procesing of spousal cases takes approximately 6 months. Look at
www.cic.gc.ca for more info.

If you just received your PR visa but not landed yet in Canada then you are
not a PR yet, thus you cannot sponsor anyone. More - if this is the case and
you get married before landing then your PR visa will become invalid. You
will have to return it together with your wife's application and all
supporting documents and ask to add your wife to the case.

But if you already landed and are getting married after landing then
unfortunately (as Jim already wrote) you cannot sponsor her if you are not
residing permanently in Canada. You will have to return to Canada and start
sponsorship process from here.

Hi, if I sponsor her from canada how long will it take until she gets the PR?
would it help if she was at canada at the time when I applied?

Sponsoring spouses via visa offices takes about 6 months in total provided
they are approved. It does not matter if she is in Canada or outside. She
will probably have to have an interview at the visa office serving her
country of nationality. All this is academic in any event as you are not
eligible to sponsor.

Jim,

For a spousal sponsored PR visa application from abroad, what are the
likelihood that an interview is required?
I don't anticipate one needed for my case, but if needed the problem being
that the visa processing office is in Manila, and my wife's residence
currently is in Japan. How would they go abouts arranging for an interview?
Will she be required to fly to Manila? Under what circumstances would an
interview be needed?

If there are doubts about the relationship, i.e. it is for Immigration
purposes, Security concerns, or possibly Quality Control. I am not sure if
Manila makes area trips, but it most likely that the interview would be
scheduled in Japan. Not positive if they make area trips for interviews
these days.
