South African Applications

South African Applications
Visa processing from South Africa seems to have ground to a stand still. I
lodged my application in August 2001 and have still heard nothing.
According to the Canadian embassy web site they have been processing January
2001 applications since June of last year.
Does anyone know what is happening, or has anyone had any experience with
South African applications. My wife and I are becoming very disillusioned
and no-one seems to have any positive news.

I have also applied through CHC-South Africa in December-2001. Not heard anything yet.
The website shows they are reviewing the files received in March-2001. does this mean that they are interviewing the applicants those have applied in March-01?
Please throw some light if you know.

No, they are only assessing those applications to decide if interview is
required among other things. If interview is required then several more
months (depending how large is backlog in interview queue) will be added to
the process.

Hey, things are moving along. I checked the www.canada.co.za website a couple of days ago and the site read that they were still reviewing files submitted in January 2001. That is some progress (2 months files assesed in two days!)...ha, ha
I think our file was received by CIC Pretoria in April 2001 (although our Acknowledgement of Receipt is dated June). So hopefully not long to go. Yippeee!
