Just thought I'd say that my application was posted the Friday before last so now the waiting game begins
Thanks to all those that answered my questions.
I have one final question, my GF seems to think that now it has been sent I can't travel out of the country but Im pretty sure I can but it would be up to the discretion of the boarder officer of whether they let me back in?

You can travel outside Canada but on re-entering you would still be classed as a visitor and COULD be refused entry if all the requirements of a visitor are not met or you are found inadmissible. If you do travel take evidence of your spousal application being submitted. Many have done this without problems.
