Hello there
I'm trying to emigrate to Saskatchewan as after looking at going to Alberta its easier for me to get into Saskatchwan (I hope).
About me: I'm 24 years old, from Northern Ireland. Don't have a trade, I have btec national diploma in business (a levels equivalent) and have worked in an office for 3 years.
I've been applying for jobs and getting no responses and discovered the fast food places are just taking filipinos.
What I'm wanting to know :
1) Any tips on places hiring in Saskatchewan?
2) With not having a trade - should I look at doing my hgv licence or something to get in ?

Getting a HGV licence won't get you a job here unless you have at least three years HGV driving experience...Do you have any Accounts experience included in your Business Dip? You might be able to get into a Recruiting company if they're hiring.
Here's a few websites to start your jobsearch and good luck

Why do you think SK will be easier than AB out of interest? Any province is going to be tricky if you don't have specialist skills, it's going to be a hard sell convincing an employer to go through the paperwork/hassle/wait of hiring you rather than somebody easier.
Why not just go over on a Working Holiday Visa to start with, at least then you'd be work authorised so wouldn't need an employer to do anything special to hire you, and it would at least give you a year to get started.
Good luck.

Didn't know about the iec working holiday visa until seeing it here last night, will look into that

Definitely go down the IEC route if you are eligible, it will be so much easier. Don't delay though, there are only a limited number of visas available each year that usually go pretty quickly, and the program opened in January.
Good luck.

So if I get IEC, then I can land in Canada and work, then get TWP and then SINP?
I'm looking at going to Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Its a small place and apparently has a labour shortage but I've been applying for jobs with no luck.

Because my brother lives in Lethbridge, AB and his wife is from Swift Current. Swift is the closest town of any size over the border into SK.
I'd like to get a TWP then PNP. As far as I understand I can apply for PNP in SK after 6 months and it will take longer in AB.
I'm not tied to Swift Current, it just seems like a nice place to start off.

As the previous poster said, why not sponsorship in your case. Straight in as a PR.

After reading the requirements, both Saskatchewan and Alberta require 3 years prior experience to participate in the semi-skill pilot projects for PNP in the food and hospitality industry.
Your best bet is definitely getting an IEC work permit (you can apply for a 2nd year) and then seeing if you can find a company to get an LMO to obtain a TWP and then apply for PR.

Because a brother cannot sponsor an adult sibling.
