I am currently studying in Canada with student authorization, my multiple entry visa
will expire soon . but I have to go abroad (Spain, Portugal) for conference in
September. Although I have extended my student authorization, I have to apply visa
out of Canada. I plan to mail my application to buffalo, but I saw the information
from http://www.cic.gc.ca/ saying that it is only responsible for visitor application
from USA. So will they process my application because I am mailing the application
from Canada?

Another question is that is it easy for me to get the visa considering that I am
already in Canada under legal student authorization?

Help is appreciated!

Hi:

You can submit your application for a visitor visa extension within Canada at the CPC
in Vegreville, Alberta.

If you need to apply for a visitor visa you can apply to any CPC in the world,
including Buffalo, N.Y.

Yours truly, Ingrid Y. Chen, B.A., LL.B.

Hi,

My wife had to extend her student visa while she was at University, and then had to
get a visitor visa while we were waiting on her PR application. Both were approved
within a few days of being delivered to the immigration office, with no problems at
all. Like everyone on this board will tell you, there are no gurantees, but it
appears that what you are doing is quite routine.

Matt
