Hi, I am from the UK and applying for PR through London. I am confused about the proof of
funds section on the application form, in the guide it says: "Indicate how much money you
will be bringing with you to Canada and the value of any property you own" Most of my
money is in my house it is worth about £95000 and my mortgage is £62500. Does this capital
count or do I need to prove cash? If this is ok how do I prove that my house is worth that
and hence how much I will have when I land? Do I also have to list debts that will be paid
before I land? Is the proof of funds requirement different if you have arranged
employment?

TIA Helena

When I applied, I had a valuation of our house by a reputable Estate Agent, and enclosed
both his valuation letter and a current mortgage statement. This seemed to do the trick.
The difference between value and mortgage is potential capital.

Good luck!

Graham

Thanks Graham. I've just had it valued so I'll do the same. Did you wait till you had
received your PR to sell or sell up straight away? I think I need to put it on the market
now as in the north it can take ages to sell. Ta Helena
