Permanent resident status???????
I'm confused about the rules here.
Reading through the Application for Permanent Residence
Federal Skilled Workers,
it says (1)
You will remain a permanent resident until you become a Canadian citizen, as long as you spend at least two years of each 5 year period in Canada.
it also says- (2)
If you spend more than two years of a five-year period outside Canada, you may lose your Permanent Resident Status.
Sounds kind of contradictory to me, or how am I supposed read this??
Will I fullfill the requirements if say, I spend (in a 5 year period) 1 whole year and then 3 months of each of the following 4 years in Canada? That adds up to a total of 2 years.
This will be possible in nr 1, but in nr 2 I will be spending 36 months outside Canada ??
Please enlighten me as I simply do not get it.
