Default Partner office for Bufalo March 2002 application?

Hello,

I have been following this newsgroup for some months now and wanted to
ask a question.

I applied under the Skilled Worker category in March 2002, and I am
currently in Canada with a temporary work permit.

I received a letter from the Buffalo CPC today saying:

" To expedite the processing of your application we have sent your
file to our partner office in Los Angeles." .... then it says that I
should deal with them for further communications, and it gives me an
address and fax #.

I haven't heard anyone of my friends (or anyone on the newsgroup)
posting any similar letters.... is this common? What does this mean,
is it that I might be called for an interview in L.A., or was there
something in my application that merited a more thorough review and
therefore they sent it to L.A? or is this some new approach that
Buffalo is taking to diminish their backlog?

Has anyone received a letter like this?

Thank you,

Watson.

Buffalo is the regional processing center in US and consulates in Detroit,
LA, NY and Seattle are partner or satellite offices when it comes to
immigration applications.

Under old law Buffalo was assessing all cases but only completing those with
interview waiver - cases requiring interview were being transferred to one
of the above consulates for interview and completion of the process.

Under new law when interviews will be held rather rarely Buffalo is simply
sharing their workload with partner offices where processing officers would
have otherwise nothing to do. The letter you received with the statement "To
expedite..." is a generic letter being now mailed to applicants processed
under new law if case is not to be concluded in Buffalo.

Now consulate in LA will decide if interview is required or not. And
consulate in LA will complete processing your case.

Thank you Mr Miller.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens. I hope that the
fact that they sent my application to another processing center
doesn't delay it anymore than it already has.

Watson.
