Default OWP for other half

Hi

Would someone be help to offer some help please.

As I understand it ( please correct me if I am wrong) once (if !!!!) I receive my LMIA all I need to do is go to point of entry with that and my offer letter. Now for my wife who would have an open work permit as my spouse what documents would she need?

Thanks in advance

If your NOC is skill level A, B or O then nothing extra at all (unless she wants to work in healthcare etc., then she'd need a medical).

Thanks Novocastrian

Would she need to bring a police check? As I have had to get one done I am assuming my OH would have to as well.

Frankly I'm not the best person to ask. I don't think so, but surely it can't do any harm.... or can it?

Not mandatory to have one for a SOWP. As long as no criminal convictions within the last 10 years then she will be fine,

Truck driver is skill level C and NOT ELIGIBLE for the spousal open work permit.

SOWP;s are only issued to those who's partner has a job in the NOC 0 A or B skill levels and all pilot projects are now closed.
Can my spouse or common-law partner work in Canada?

I asked the same question when I went through immigration, they were very helpful.
Told me as my wife was now in the system that she would just need to bring a copy of my LMO I am on one of the "good NOC codes as a Millwright" and she should ask for a SOWP if they do not ask her what she wants.
They will issue one and link the dates to my LMO. I asked about applying from the UK but they said not to bother as long as she has a copy of my LMO there won't be a problem. We shall soon find out though as she is booked on a flight out here the 26th of Oct....... The immigration section can appear a tad daunting at first but they are very friendly at helpful as long as you have all the relevant information at hand.
Good Luck.

Thanks for that it is really useful. My position will also allow my wife a SOWP.

Mourners I take it you have gone ahead of your wife and she is going to join you. This is probably the route we will be taking. I would be interested to know if your wife has any issues going through immigration.
