Non-Student BUNAC Reference.

Non-Student BUNAC Reference.
I was just about to send my BUNAC application off, when I read about the reference again, which states it can't be by a personal friend. My reference is from my boss at work (who I have only known through work), but we also socialise outside work sometimes and I would regard him as a friend too. Instead of the reference being purely from a professional perspective, he has made reference to our friendship and how we have socialised outside of work, motorcycling etc.
Should I get another reference or ask him to re-write this one, or will it be o.k. as it is?

I think it will be fine. My reference had on it that they knew me in "both a formal and casual manner" and I haven't had any problems with it. It's still your boss after all. I think they just don't want it to be from someone you only know on a friend-basis. I say stick with it, you'll be alright.

I got my previous supervisor to do mine...she is a good friend now but we met through work initially and her reference letter stated that.
