Default New Passport During Application

Hi all,

Would someone tell me how big an issue it is for a PR applicant (sponsored) to renew their passport while waiting for a decision. The passport is not due for renewal immediately but if the new passport is issued before Oct then it can be used for admission to the States under the visa waiver scheme.

Any advice welcomed.

Leigh

It is not a big thing so long as you advise the visa office of your new passport details and provide a copy of the ID pages.

Your time to enter Canada will be limited by the expiry date on your passport, so if it's expiring soon, renew it now.

As far as the US visa waiver issue is concerned, read this link:
http://usinfo.state.gov/usinfo/Archi.../21-47467.html

The digital photo and biometric requirements will only apply to passports issued after the effective dates. For those passports issued before the effective dates, it's sufficient to be a machine readable document.

So long as you are not concealing anything or you are not misrepresenting or mistating the facts, every thing is fair like "every thing is fair in love and war. You will not have any kind of problem at all since it is a change of passport or a renewal of passport and nothing is wrong. Best of luck.
