New to this newgroup.

Hello.
sorry to bother you all experts. I am new to this newsgroup and would like some
information on several issues:
I am planning to apply for PR through Buffalo. Where can I find information
about processing times? How long do I have to wait before receiving the
preliminary assesment? Is it true that the first letter from the consulate in
Buffalo ( finacial receipt) can take up to 6 months!!!
