need help----waiting time for landing paper

We had the interview and medical exam last Decemeber. Now 7 months passed without
anything from the consulate. I sent a few faxes but no answers.

Is this normal? What can I do under this situation? btw, I'm a third year Ph.D.
student in canada.

ASsuming that you had submitted your case in the USA, which is responsible for the
jurisdiction of applicants residing in Canada, it sounds as though an outstanding
background clearance may be delaying matters. Additional information on this topic

Confirmation from the visa office would be the only way to verify this absolutely,
however. Inquiries sent outside of the published service standards are entitled to
a response.
