Default Need to go home and want to take family for visit.

Hello Imigration forum,

I hope that somebody has a body of knowledge that can be of assistance
to my situation. I am a Canadian born citizen currently living in
Ecuador on a volunteer visa. In July of 2002 I married an Ecuadorian
and in January of 2003 we had a child together here in Ecuador. She
has two other children from a previous marriage.
I have now returned twice to Canada for work and legal purposes. I
know need to go back to work for a few months to make some good $$$ as
well as get ecuadorian residence, and do not want to leave my son and
wife behind this time. (also she needs to sign when i pick up my
resiency as i have found out from other people who have tried to do
this from within Ecuador)
The thing with Ecuador/Canada relations is that the Embassy in Quito
is next to useless when it come to immigration matters as the Bogota,
Colombia embassy does all the processing for Colombia/Ecuadorian
applications.
I even received the response from Quito "Try a travel agency" when I
asked for information.
Bogota however does not seem to be much better as they dont respond to
emails and dont accept phone calls.
What i want to know is all the paperwork i need and what will get my
wife and child a visitors visa so they can meet my family there.
I have a good post here in Ecuador as an Executive Dirtor, we have a
vehicle in our name, and my wife has two other children that we will
not be taking with us for the visit. Is this enough to safely buy the
tickets before we apply as the Temporary residence application
recommends? Or could we find our selves with thousands of dollars
worth of non refundable airplane tickets and a turned down visa
application?
One more question, is it likely that we will have to travel to Bogota
for an interview before the visa is given?

Thanks a bunch

Ben

Start by reviewing the material at www.cic.gc.ca

Next check out Bogota's procedures for issuing visas. Contact the embassy in
Bogata by phone or call the Ambassador in Quito and complain about the
treatment you received as a Cdn Citizen.
