Default Is my wife required to apply for SIN again?

My wife is still waiting for the results of her spousal sponsored PR visa
from abroad. She was previously in Canada a few years back on a working
visa in which a SIN card was issued to her. My questions is, that normally
for new permanent resident applicants who are approved and enter in Canada
are required to fill out for the PR card and the SIN card at the point of
entry? The requirement to work in Canada is a SIN card, so my question is
when she is approved for the PR visa, and enters into Canada, can she use
the SIN card number that was issued to her when she was on a work visa
before, or would she have to reapply for another SIN card.

THanks

A SIN number must be provided to an employer by anyone working in Canada,
but it in itself is not an authorization to work. You don't apply for it at
your port of entry, anyhow. SIN cards are issued by whatever HRDC is called
now - their website is http://www.hrdc-drhc.gc.ca and it tells you where to
apply for the card. Her SIN from when she was on a work visa was a
temporary resident SIN (ie it began with "9"), so if she becomes PR she has
to get a new SIN.

She would have to apply for a permanent SIN when she lands in Canada.
The SIN she used previously (which, by the way is not a work authorisation
in itself) would have been just a temporary number.
