i have been offered work in canada by a plastics recycling plant in b.c.
i have been looking into the p.r .application process but it seems lengthy
as i havent looked into it until now.my wife and 2 kids are planning on
imigrating too but that wouldnt be for about a year or so until i tie up the
loose ends over in the uk.the company that has offered me the job idealy
would like me to start at the end of march 04. would it be quicker to apply
for a work permit the n for permanent residency later once my wife is ready
to come out?i have downloaded the neccesary forms for all classes i.e
skilled worker and work permit
could really do with a bit of advice from anyone who is a bit more clued up
than me please.

You don't say what this job is, but it would be doubtful you could get
approval for this job because it's likely something someone in BC could do.
Furthermore, 1 month to complete everything before the end of March? Sorry,
not a chance. The wheels of government don't move that fast. :-(

If you qualify for PR as a skilled worker, you are probably looking at 18
months to 24 months to receive a visa. Very high work load with the
lowering of points to 67. To get an work permit, the employer would have to
demonstrate to HRDC that they have advertised in Canada, that the pay and
benefits are equal to the local market and they have been unable to find a
CC or PR that can do the proposed job in Canada. If this is so then they
would certify the job offer and forward the certification to you to apply at
London for a work permit. You would have to demonstrate that your skills
and education meet the job requirements. Once the Certification is given
then the work permit can processed in less than a month.
