Oh thank you!
You know what? We did a practice run this afternoon and yes, it looks just like a house.

If its in Royal Farnham near slough, then yes. The doctor was good with us, and the kids. Guess what, he used to be a doctor to the stars - including Tom Cruise!

Yeah, I did that myself the night before my medical to ensure I'd find it the next day... they must get lots of people wandering around there at random times looking for the place .

Hi all,
Has the medical in Slough this morning. You are right Eamon, the Dr was very nice and put us at ease.
Now we just wait for the final hurdle!
Thank you for all your comments

Glad to hear that all went well. Have you decided where your new life will take you when you get those shiny visas in your passports?

Hi,
Nope! One min we think of either BC or Ontario.
My husband is a software engineer (for the moment working for a huge well-known telecoms company), so we are hoping it shouldnt be too much of a problem for him to get a job. Our plan is that once we get PR, for him to apply for a few roles from the UK, and see what happens. However, we are planning on going to Canada around Sept time (need to decide where).
Also, we will need to secure a rental.
So, its a bit up in the air at the moment. It just depends on where he can get work

Very sensible strategy...following the work and at least trying to secure a job from the UK.
Working in IT for a well known telco. If I mentioned OneIT, would that mean anything to your husband? You can PM your response to that if you like. I (Eamonn) worked for BT for 18 years before heading out here, the last few years of that doing IT management/CIO type work.
I've had some dealings with this IT agency. They seem pretty sound.
SI Systems
Kind regards,
Eamonn
