Default Landing and proof of funds

Hi,

I will be landing (from USA) in the last week of June.

I will be carrying around ~4000 USD in travellers checks/cash for
immediate expenses and opening bank account. I am planning to show my
last 6 months US bank statements (which has more than the required
amount) for proof
of funds.

Is this ok or is it possible that the immigration officer may insist
that all money be in cash/travelers checks/bank draft?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

regards,
Pady

You should not have any problems with the proof of funds using the
documentation you mentioned.

Jim

Is it imperative that cash/travellers checks must be carried and shown at
the time of landing.

That is to say even if I can show ample proof of fund by way of latest bank
statements in the US and other investments and 401K statements.

I am gonna land in Toronto from US next week .I am planning to take
USD $2000 as Traveller's check and I have made a "statement from the
Bank mamager " stating the amount I have in my Saving and checking a/c
(I have around USD $9800 in my saving and Checking a/c).Do you think
this will be enough for Custom officer as proof of Funds ?

An early reply will be appreciated

Thanks

You have to show unencumbered funds, 401Ks and Investments are not usually
good enough, Transferable currency in an accessible bank is the way to go.
