Exclamation Landing & Passport Issues

Well we finally landed
but it took an hour to clear immigration :curse:

With reference to our previous thread http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=564991
about our childrens passports here's some advice for all.

If you are concerned about the validity of passports and renew any passports with a visa in it you need to have a visa in the current passport.

It caused us a long wait and stress you don't need after a 9 1/2 hr flight, thinking that they wouldn't land our children WE finally had our paperwork stamped but our advice to anyone is either:

1) Don't renew any passport that is still valid on landing and just pay for it in Canada when it needs renewing

2) Renew BUT make sure you let the consulate know and get a new visa in your new passport

Simplest solution is to get new passports long before any visas get stamped.

It's a lot more hassle to renew overseas, anyway.

It's easy to say that but situations change and as the UK economy took a down turn many people are sat waiting with Visa's in their passports and haven't sold their houses.

This thread was to help those who wasn't sure wether to renew passports or not! and let them know some potential pitfalls.
